Ivanhoe East Primary School is here to make you and your child’s transition to school as smooth as possible. 

Blue and Green group transition dates

October 16th 9:15am – 10:45am

October 30th 9:15am – 10:45am

November 13th 9:15am – 10:45am

Red and Yellow group transition dates

October 23rd 9:15am – 10:45am

November 6th 9:15am – 10:45am

November 20th 9:15am – 10:45am

For the following transition days, please arrive 5 minutes early and meet us at the friendship tree. From here you can collect your child’s name tag from their coloured group and while your child is participating in their activity, you are free to go and get a coffee or Tom Boyle will be available to answer any questions you have. Pick up from transition will be at the friendship tree.

Foundation Step Up Day - November 26th (10:30am - 1:00pm)

On this day, your child will be in their future classroom with their future teacher. This will be the introduction to their class next year. 

• Where to go:  Please enter via Gate 3 and meet us at the Friendship Tree! Please arrive at the friendship tree five minutes before the activities begin.
• What to bring : Each child should bring a lunchbox, a drink bottle, hat, and any medication he/she may need (if required).

Parent Information Evening – December 5th (6:30pm - 7:30pm)

2025 parents and families are invited to learn more about our school, ask any additional questions and get an insight into how the IEPS community will support yourselves and your child. Click here to register - Event Registration

2025 Foundation Picnic – December 12th (4:00pm - 5:00pm)

As a special event, we invite you into the school for a barbeque. This time allows your child to build further relationships with their peers and their 2025 teacher, explore the playground a little better and help yourself and them feel more confident and comfortable in their environment.

2025 Foundation Assessment Days

Foundation students will not attend school on the following Wednesday's.

• Wednesday 29th January 2025 and,
• Wednesday 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th February 2025.

Foundation students only attend on their allocated time for testing and assessment with their classroom teacher. Your Foundation teacher will provide a day and time for each student to attend and participate in a selection of literacy and numeracy tasks. The assessments assist teachers to develop an understanding of each child's strengths and areas of need as they begin their formal schooling. There is no need to prepare your child for these assessments and they will be conducted in a relaxed and engaging manner at school.

2025 Foundation Staggered Start Dates & Times

As part of the transition program Foundation students will have a staggered start to the school year, this is designed to assist them to adjust to full days at school.

• Thursday 30th January - Foundation 2025 (first day of school) - Staggered Start & Half Day

• Friday 31st January - Foundation 2025 - Staggered Start & Half Day

• Monday 3rd February - Foundation students start full days - 4 days a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri)

• Monday 3rd March - Foundation students start full days - 5 days a week.
