Ivanhoe East Primary School provides a high quality Physical Education program for every child. It is designed to prepare students for a healthy and active lifestyle through the development of skills, knowledge, teamwork and positive attitudes. Our comprehensive program provides children with a wide range of physical and sporting experiences ensuring they develop fundamental motor skills early through to attaining a deep understanding of the elements required to be successful in a sporting and team environment.

Facilities:

Ivanhoe East Primary is fortunate to have access to excellent facilities and equipment allowing for the development of skills through a wide range of sports and activities. These facilities include an indoor basketball/multipurpose court, 2 outdoor multipurpose courts and a large oval.

Program Overview:

Our specialist Physical Education teacher leads skill based Physical Education programs with every class each week. Children in the junior school will develop and refine basic motor skills, namely, running, jumping, skipping, catching, throwing, kicking, rolling, balancing, twisting and turning. Those in the middle and senior years will learn to use these skills and more complex skills in increasingly complex situations from simple games through to a variety of sports. Throughout these learning episodes there is a constant focus on a range of important values:
