House Spirit

School Houses

Our four school Houses at Ivanhoe East Primary School are Marram, Wimbi, Tharra and Wadjil.

Each House name relates to a native Australian animal and derives from the Woi-wurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, the traditional owners of the land. The Houses are further broken down into vibrant colours to provide inspiration and easy identification of teams.

  • Yellow house is known as Wimbi (Wallaby)
  • Red house is known as Marram (Kangaroo)
  • Blue house is known as Wadjil (Pelican)
  • Green house is known as Tharra (White Hawk)

House Spirit

At Ivanhoe East Primary we champion our House Spirit by running activities where all students participate in sporting, academic and social activities representing their House and wearing their House colours in support of their House.

Students don their House colours and engage with students across all year levels, as they come together to achieve a shared goal. These activities build upon camaraderie, sportsmanship and wellbeing.

House Spirit activities give House Captains and senior students leadership opportunities, while their junior counterparts are mentored in a supportive and fun environment, all whilst accumulating House points across the year for House Spirit glory.
