Understanding Assessment and Reporting at Ivanhoe East Primary School
At Ivanhoe East Primary, we use a variety of assessments to gain insights into each student’s strengths and areas for growth, tailoring teaching to support all learners.
Formative assessment is key to our understanding of student learning and every lesson provides valuable insight into student understanding. We also use a range of other assessments like the PAT, Essential Assessments, and online interviews in English and Numeracy, the combination of formative and summative assessment provides us with valuable data that helps us measure each child’s progress throughout the year.
We also use data analysis tools such as Elastik, which gives real-time insights for personalising learning paths, the use of formative and summative assessments, including rich investigations in day to day learning which allows us to unpack each student’s journey comprehensively.
In conjunction with our assessments we have our Reporting Cycle.
Our reporting includes:
- Term 1: Parent-Teacher Interviews
- Term 2: Semester Reports
- Term 3: Interviews/3-Way Conferences
- Term 4: Semester Reports
Based on parent feedback from the parent opinion survey this year, we have included this on our website click here to ensure transparency and inform families about the types of assessments we use.
Through regular updates and open communication, we aim to keep parents informed, fostering a collaborative approach to support each child's growth.

This year, we have set an important goal: to raise funds to resurface our outdoor basketball court, a space that plays a vital role in the lives of our students and community members. The cost of this process is ballparked at $100,000 so we are well aware that it is going to be no easy feat to achieve this.
We would like to invite you and your family to support this initiative by making a donation through this fundraising page.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us create a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone.
