Days of Acknowledgement
June 14th – World Blood Donor Day
To all those who donate blood, thank you. This act comes purely from the goodness of your heart and helps countless individuals.
June 16th – 22nd – Refugee Week
From Sunday the 16th of June, our community acknowledges Refugee Week. The theme for this year is ‘finding freedom: family’. During this week our community will be exploring the perspectives of growing up as a refugee through our library times and casual discussions on what makes us feel safe and how we would feel without these.
This national celebration is in place to raise awareness of the issues affecting refugees, highlighting their experiences and building community awareness of the trauma and isolation that occurs when someone sees awful things and has to leave their place of belonging. World refugee week is about building a community and finding togetherness with those who feel alone, celebrating our differences and respecting one another.
Review Update
On Tuesday we completed our 3 day review. On the Final Day discussions by the panel determined that in 2 out of the 5 FISO domains (Framework for Improving Student Outcomes) we were allocated as 'Excelling', which is the highest grade you can receive. In the 3 other FISO domains we were allocated as 'Embedding' moving towards 'Excelling', which is the second highest grade you can receive.
We have then been allocated two goals for our new strategic plan from 2024-2028. One goal is maximizing learning and wellbeing growth, with 5 key targets and 4 key improvement strategies to complete over the four years. Our second goal is empowering students to have further agency to enhance engagement in their learning, with 4 key targets and 3 key improvement strategies over the next four years.
The majority of our targets are related to maintaining the already high results that we have achieved, with some areas which we will focus on incremental improvement within our sound structure and processes.
We will receive a detailed report within 30 days, in which I will be able to share with the community.
Overall this review highlighted where we believed we were at, in fact we were seen higher than our own self reflection. Furthermore the two goals set, are the goals that we had already started to unpack as our 'where to next'.

2025 Prep Enrolments Now Open (Due by 26th July)

2024 IEPS Fair (Save the Date & Call out for Volunteers)
On Saturday 30th November we will be having our 2024 IEPS Fair. We are calling out for more volunteers and if you are interested in being part of the committee please email me at tom.boyle@education.vic.gov.au
Note: we have engaged with an event manager so the fair committee’s roles will be more about themes, mapping, costs and fundraising.

Science Open Afternoon - Thursday 20th of June
We are inviting all Parents, Grandparents and extended families to our Science showcase event. This open afternoon will showcase all of the Science Inquiry learning that has been going on in classrooms this term.
Date: Thursday 20th June
Time: 2.30 pm – 3.30 pm (Science Learning Showcase) 3.30pm – 4.15pm (BBQ)
Location: The Science Learning Showcase will be in classrooms.
BBQ will be on the top asphalt near the friendship tree.

My School Connect

The cut off time for ordering online has changed to 9:00am.
To prevent disappointment at lunchtime please keep checking:
• that you have the correct date for the lunch order
• that you check out and pay or your order will not be received by the canteen.

To avoid disappointment, please do not send your child to school with large notes (over $5) to purchase items from the canteen, as we do not have the change to give them. Also, please ensure your coins are Australian monetary coins and not of international currency.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are in urgent need of volunteers in the Canteen. If you are able to spare a few hours it would be appreciated. Please follow the link below for the Canteen Roster.

Second Hand Uniforms
IEPS Second Hand Uniforms is located upstairs in the gym.
The Second Hand Uniform shop will be open each Friday morning from 8.30am - 9.15am (45 minutes) for you to purchase any items you might need.
Items are $5 each and payment is strictly card only.
The uniform shop is run by parent volunteers, please stop by if you’re interested in helping out.
2nd Hand Uniform Donations
Currently accepting all IEPS branded uniform.
Please note that space is limited and only IEPS branded jumpers and t-shirts can be accepted. Good condition shorts and skorts will be accepted.
In high demand: summer and winter school dresses, polo shirts and jumpers/fleece ALL sizes and styles.
Please double check all donations are washed and clear of stains and rips or holes.
Uniform Swap is up and running. Feel free to stop by with your donation and take something in return.
Please use the stairs next to the entrance to the Hall/Gym.
Musicorp
Musicorp is excited to be working with Ivanhoe East Primary to offer students the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. Lessons run weekly during school time and children receive an instrument to use whilst enrolled.

Smile Squad six month fluoride varnish visit
The Banyule Community Health Smile Squad team are heading back to our school in term 2 to complete six-monthly fluoride varnish applications for those students who have provided consent. Fluoride varnish applications help make sure students have the best chance of preventing tooth decay, so we’re excited Smile Squad are coming back.
Consent for this fluoride varnish application was provided when students’ initial consent forms were returned. However, if anyone has changed their mind and do not wish to receive a fluoride varnish application, then you can contact Banyule Community Health directly to let them know.
Please contact the Smile Squad team directly on 9450 2000.
Smile Squad fluoride visits are scheduled for the 13/06, 20/06 & 21/06.

The Northside Parents Battle Of the Bands is back by popular demand for its 2nd year!

It will be held over two EPIC nights at Northcote’s iconic live music venue, the Northcote Social Club on the 31st July & 8th August, 2024.
To avoid disappointment, get in early and book your tickets as they sold out very quickly last year and are selling out even faster this year.
The Ivanhoe East PS Parents Band “Lost Property" is participating with 8 other local primary schools including Northcote Primary, Brunswick South Primary, Brunswick East Primary, North Melbourne Primary, Westgarth Primary, Fairfield Primary, Wales Street Primary & Preston South Primary.
The ticket sales proceeds are donated back to expand the performing arts/music education programs and help improve facilities for participating schools. It is also a great opportunity to connect with the different school communities and have a lot of fun. All monies will be redistributed pro-rata of parents’ attendance/number of tickets sold by each school.
The real winners are the schools that sell the most tickets! It is a fun night of great music and quality entertainment - legendary if you ask previous crowds!
