May 12th – World Nurses Day
For those of us who have been in hospital or spent time in hospital to support a loved one; we know first-hand that nurses are integral. These individuals work so incredibly hard, in incredibly challenging situations and for long hours. Yet they are always there when you need them; with patience and kindness at the forefront. This day acknowledges the incredibly hard job that is being a nurse and that this selfless career is still one that is not showed the respect it deserves. From IEPS, we say thank you to our nurses for all that you do.
May 12th – Mother’s and Special Persons Day
On Sunday we will spend our day thinking about those who have cared for us as we grow up. This day allows us to show our appreciation to people who often sacrifice their own time or happiness to help us feel our best. Some of us may spend this day with those special loved ones; mother, grandparent, aunt, singular parent or a friend while others of us spend our times with the memories of these loved ones.
From IEPS we say thank you for everything you do mums and special people. We could not be the tremendous individuals we are without you.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I firstly want to thank the wonderful staff, ES, Office and classroom teachers, for their support of me in the Acting Principal position. A special thanks to Alex Silvestro, Joanna King and Sophie Herbert for stepping up into the Assistant Principal roles.
In recent interactions with our students, it has come to our attention that a number of our senior students are discussing themes and topics that they may not fully understand or that are not age appropriate. Upon further investigation, many students have disclosed that they have come across this information through social media or gaming platforms.
The online world is also a place that many of our students engage with and navigating the dangers is increasingly challenging. The e safety commissioner’s website https://www.esafety.gov.au/ contains a wealth of valuable information and advice for parents, to support families in keeping their children safe when online. This information is regularly updated.
As a school we put in place measures of support and education that help our students understand the online world and teach them how to navigate their way safely.
The resources and initiatives we have in place to support our students in building respectful relationships, both online and offline include:
1. Weekly Respectful Relationships lessons.
2. A curriculum-aligned Cyber Safety program that is regularly integrated into classroom learning.
3. Community Circle each day which is designed to discuss current issues for our students and talk about them in a non-confronting way with a trusted staff member.
Term 3:
In addition to these ongoing efforts, we are excited to announce upcoming resources and initiatives scheduled for:
1. Cyber Safety Project Student Sessions – 24th July Wednesday – Free session.
2. Cyber Safety Parent Sessions – 17th July Wednesday evening 7pm at school.
It's important to note that while students do not have access to inappropriate online material on school grounds due to our cyber security measures and mobile phone ban policy, they may encounter such content outside of school.
We appreciate your support and collaboration in ensuring that our students receive the guidance and education they need to navigate the digital landscape and cultivate healthy, respectful relationships.

Parent Art Committee - Volunteers required
The Northside Parents Battle Of the Bands is back by popular demand for its 2nd year!
https://youtu.be/COcp4dcz9cM?feature=shared
It will be held over two EPIC nights at Northcote’s iconic live music venue, the Northcote Social Club on the 31st July & 8th August, 2024.
To avoid disappointment, get in early and book your tickets as they sold out very quickly last year and are selling out even faster this year.
The Ivanhoe East PS Parents Band “Lost Property" is participating with 8 other local primary schools including Northcote Primary, Brunswick South Primary, Brunswick East Primary, North Melbourne Primary, Westgarth Primary, Fairfield Primary, Wales Street Primary & Preston South Primary.
The ticket sales proceeds are donated back to expand the performing arts/music education programs and help improve facilities for participating schools. It is also a great opportunity to connect with the different school communities and have a lot of fun. All monies will be redistributed pro-rata of parents’ attendance/number of tickets sold by each school.
The real winners are the schools that sell the most tickets! It is a fun night of great music and quality entertainment - legendary if you ask previous crowds!
Head over to @parents_battle_of_the_bands on Instagram and Facebook to see what the fuss is about AND click on the ticket link where you can select your school:
