End of Term Reflection
Where does the time go? Another term has come and gone and it has been wonderful to see just how well our students have settled into their learning this year. As the wider leadership team moves around the school and visits classrooms, it is obvious that our students are engaged in their learning. Their dedication to improving both academically and socially has seen some outstanding improvements so far this year. I would like to acknowledge that the high levels of engagement and improvement in our student data (see below) on instruction, classroom environment, relationships and student voice reflects our staff’s unwavering commitment and dedication to supporting all students with their academic, social and emotional learning growth.
Of course, none of this is possible without the support of the parents and I would like to thank those parents in particular who volunteer their time to help around the school in so many different ways. Without parental contributions and encouragement, both at home and at school, we would not be the enviable school community that we are today. As I regularly say on school tours and at school events, we are very fortunate to have such a caring and supportive school community.
Take care and stay safe over the school holiday period. If you are heading away during the holiday period to locations near the water, including beaches, lakes and rivers we encourage you to check out the following websites: https://beachsafe.org.au/ and https://lsv.app.axcelerate.com/showDoc.cfm?DocID=458782

Canteen Update for Tomorrow
Thursday lunch time is earlier as we have an adjusted timetable to allow for the 2:30pm finish. As such, lunch break will be 11am – 12pm, with the students returning to classes from 12pm – 2:30pm. The Canteen will still be running with over the counter sales, however the lunch that can be purchased on https://myschoolconnect.com.au/ will be modified due to the time constraints of the day. Ham and Cheese toasties and Napoli pasta will be the main items that students can purchase online.
Thanks for your understanding.

Communication Audit
We are taking the opportunity to gather feedback from our community on the topic of school communication. We currently only have 12% of our community who have completed this survey. The feedback so far has been great and we will be actioning amendments based on this feedback, so we ask that if you haven’t already, you complete this survey in its entirety. The survey will be extended and now will close at 9.00 am on Tuesday April 2nd.
I thank you in advance for your time and appreciate your feedback. The results and any further changes/amendments will be communicated with our community prior to these changes occurring.
IEPS Swimming update
On March 21st, our school's students joined the regional swimming competition. It was a great day where everyone tried their best against other schools. It was really fun to cheer for our friends!
Winners
Everyone that attended was a winner, displaying an amazing effort in the pool. We had a lot of individual success with the team coming home with three bronze medals, two silver and one gold!
Our Swimmers
Fifteen of our students made it to regionals including, Eve C, Emily C, Caitlin F, Isabella L, Violet L, Owen M, Heidi M, Melanie P, Max P, Ted P, Alexa S, Oliver T, Indiana W, Taj W and Ned Y.
Well done to all and congratulations to all students that also represented our school at Division and District. It has been an incredible year for IEPS in the pool.
What’s Next?
Next is the state competition on April 19th. Violet, Emily, Eve, and Indi will be there, in the girls 9/10 freestyle relay, so let’s wish them luck. With swimming coming to an end for 2024 we look forward to Cross Country next term!

School Council Sub-Committees 2024
As part of our 2024 School Council our Subcommittees are advisory bodies to the School Council. They assist council with performing their duties and functions, and are established to support School Council in specific areas.
Subcommittee membership is open to non-school-council members as we provide the opportunity for the school community to be involved in School Council matters. However, the School Council decides the purpose and terms of reference of a subcommittee, has the final responsibility for decisions, and subcommittees cannot make decisions on behalf of the School Council.
Our Subcommittees for 2024 are as follows:
- Policy:Currently have 5 members, will usually be conducted through email correspondence with occasional virtual meetings as required. This committee is overseen by Amanda Dwyer.
- Finance:Currently have 4 members, will meet virtually in the days/weeks before every School Council meeting. This committee is overseen by Josh Hunter.
- Community Engagement:Currently have 3 members, will meet either virtually or face to face in the days/weeks before every School Council meeting. This committee is overseen by Josh Hunter.
If you are interested in joining any of the School Council Subcommittees please inform me via email by 2.30pm Thursday 28th of March 2024.
2024 Fair Committee
The Fair date is Saturday November 30th. We have 2 x staff representatives already in place and we will be engaging with an event manager for the School Fair who will run all of the behind the scenes work. The 2024 Fair Committee will run very differently and will not require the heavy lifting of past committees. Instead the Fair Committee will work out the theme, the rides, the food, and in summary, what we want the day to look like and feature. We will also be looking to engage with our IEPS community as we have many experts, skill sets, local businesses to support, and this will be another role of the committee.
In the past, the role of Class Reps has been tasked with organising the year level stall. Our event manager will be doing all of the main organising in the back ground and the Class Rep will be required to put together the rosters for the stall for the day.
If you are interested in joining the Fair Committee please email me directly before the start of Term 2, by 9am on Friday 11th April.
Assembly Update
In 2024, we will continue to alternate between onsite and online assemblies on a fortnightly basis, however there will be some changes to our onsite assembly process. Moving forward, each year level will host an onsite assembly, share their learning, and present the Student of the Fortnight Awards.
Assemblies will be held onsite in the school gym at 9am on Friday mornings. Please refer to the schedule below:
