Attitudes to School Data
2023 Student Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS), is a survey that focuses on student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and this information is collated through students conducting a survey to find out what they think of their school. The AtoSS is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education to assist schools to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.
Ivanhoe East Primary School’s AtoSS data improved on an average of 6% over the 21 sections in this survey. Some sections improved by as much as 10% and no sections had a negative result. Some sub sections improved by as much as 17% and 64 out of 68 (94%) sub sections improved (with the 4 that didn’t improve, it was only by an average of 1.5%).
Our 4 year School Strategic Plan targets
- Stimulated learning (+7% increase.) We have now met our Strategic Plan target.
- Student voice and agency (+4% increase.) We are slightly below our Strategic Plan target, however this is, and will continue to feature in our yearly Annual Implementation Plan.
- Self-regulation and goal setting (+6% increase.) We have now met our Strategic Plan target.
2023 New AIP Targets
After reflection on our 2022 Annual Implementation Plan we set ourselves 2023 targets in areas, where we as a collective, felt improvement should be made. Our 2023 Annual Implementation targets were ambitious, with an average of a 9% increase required to meet these targets.
- Teacher concern (+4 increase). Still slightly below our target, even though there was a real positive result and a clear turnaround in trend data. This will however continue to be a focus in our AIP.
- Differentiated learning challenge (+6% increase). We successfully met our Annual Implementation target.
- Managing Bullying (+11% increase) NB: An increase in this means students believe that any bullying is being managed better than what it was previously. We successfully met our Annual Implementation target.
- Respect for Diversity (+7% increase). We only slightly missed our target, however this was a really positive result and a clear turnaround in trend data.
- Emotional awareness and regulation (+11% increase). We not only met, but actually surpassed our Annual Implementation target.
As you can see from above, we have improved in all of our Strategic and Annual Implementation Plan targets. This improvement was on an average of 7%. This is a great result and it is pleasing to see that our School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework is having a positive impact on our students. We will continue to use our data to guide our continual improvement cycle as a school.
Unfortunately we do not have comparable data to other schools across the state, network or any of our like schools. Once this data becomes available I will also share this with our wider community.
IEPS Canteen
IEPS is powered by fantastic support from staff and volunteers. We’re placing a spotlight on some of the people behind the scenes who make things happen!
Meet Kim Hall, our Canteen Manager. Kim has been with IEPS for a year, working with hundreds of volunteers to help create and serve lunches and snacks to children.
‘It’s always good to have a chat and a laugh as we create meals and prepare orders. People can be nervous at the beginning but I always demonstrate what to do. It’s pretty straightforward and they quickly get the hang of what needs to be done.
As well as a group of regulars who help out week-to-week, there are grandparents who volunteer when they can and it’s great to see new Prep parents rolling up their sleeves.’
Head over to Instagram to read her story:- https://www.instagram.com/p/CuyDuBsP9UQ/?igshid=MjA3NmNkZWY5Yg==
Please consider volunteering when you have spare time (see link below, WWCC required). Or contact Kim with your questions - 03 9499 2171 / or email

Infectious Disease
We ask that if your child is symptomatic you do not send them to school and we thank you in advance as we acknowledge that this can be challenging, especially for working parents.
If your child does test positive for COVID-19 and/or any other infectious disease we ask you contact the school via email Ivanhoe.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au and it is recommended that they isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved.
In relation to Covid-19 it is recommended that rapid antigen tests (RATs) are used by students and staff:
- If you have symptoms of COVID-19 infection, no matter how mild
- If you are a household or close contact of someone who has COVID-19
- If you are a social contact of someone who has COVID-19.
Rapid Antigen Tests are also available from the front office, please don’t hesitate to come in and collect as needed.
