Term Reflection
Congratulations everyone on another challenging but successful term. What fantastic learning we have had within and outside of the classroom. It has been great to see the students settle into a regular routine with a full semester with no lockdowns. Even though we have had challenges with student and staff absences, we are extremely pleased with how the term has gone and the learning outcomes of our students. I would like to personally thank our students, staff and school community for working so cohesively to provide the very best learning opportunities for our students in Semester 1. The commitment and compassion of our community is our greatest strength, and we are so proud of our students and their achievements thus far in 2022.
Covid Update
As you would be aware, following advice from the Acting Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government recently announced changes to the pandemic orders. There will no longer be a mandated vaccination requirement for staff working in mainstream schools. This change will come in from 11.59pm Friday 24 June, so in effect from the start of Term 3, 2022. With almost 100% of school staff now vaccinated across Victoria, this will cause little change to our school.
As part of the changes, from 11.59pm Friday 24 June 2022, parents and carers who have COVID-19 can transport their non-COVID-19 children via private vehicle to their primary or secondary school when an alternative person is not available to assist. This will include school holiday programs held on school grounds. This means that parents and carers will be able to leave COVID self-isolation to take their non-COVID-19 child to school or school holiday programs via a private vehicle. The parent or carer must travel directly to and from the school only. They must remain in the vehicle at all times, unless it is reasonably necessary to leave the vehicle to walk the child to and from the school grounds.
Family members are asked to continue reporting positive COVID-19 cases to both the Department of Health and our to the school via email Ivanhoe.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au and CC tom.boyle@education.vic.gov.au You must also let the school know if your child is a close contact. Students who are close contacts and want to attend should still take 5 RATs over 7 days and wear a face mask whilst indoors if they are aged 8 years or over.
Students should continue to stay home if they are unwell, even if they test negative on a RAT. Thank you for your support as we continue to make these adjustments.
Reports
Mid-year reports for all students were published online (available through the Compass portal) last Monday, 20th June. As our teachers formally reflected on your child’s achievements during the first 6 months of this year within the Semester 1 reports, it is worth considering that all students, regardless of year level, are individuals and develop physically, emotionally and academically at different rates. As educators our undertaking is to provide students with every opportunity to help them achieve their goals and reach their potential. This will vary from child to child, and is why we see our students as individuals, rather than students who we can compare against each other.
Assembly
This week the weather forecast is once again not on our side. We will have our assembly online and a recording will be sent out to our wider community so you can access the recording.
Enrolments
We are asking that any families that are within our zone or who are making a sibling claim out of zone submit their enrolments by the end of this term. In early Term 3 we will be aiming to process out of zone enrolments with a better understanding of how many places we can offer, but also start preparing our workforce planning in a timely manner. Please refer to www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au for further information around zoning of schools.
Reminders:
Fair Sub Committee’s
We have created Fair Sub Committee’s under the following categories as they require additional support from our community: Sponsorship and raffle; Community / Market stalls and Entertainment.
If you are interested in being involved in one of the sub committees please fill out the form below at your earliest convenience.
Working Bee
The Google Form below is seeking interest from families that would be available/interested in participating in a school working bee. A working bee is a great opportunity to not only help improve the physical environment of the school but also a social opportunity to work with and meet other families in the community. Please register your interest/availability and skillset in the form below.

Over the past few weeks the IEPS cross country team has been keeping busy with students competing at both the Division and Regional competitions. After multiple reschedules Division Cross Country took place at Banyule Flats on Thursday 9/5. IEPS had 14 students battle the elements and the undulating course, with all students doing exceptionally well in the placings including 7 students progressing on to Region Finals. Well done to all students involved at District, Division and Region - you all represented the school with pride. Furthermore, a special mention to Sam Palmer who finished first at the region level and will now go on to compete at the State event next term. Finally, thanks to all parents and carers that have come along to help out and support at these events. Looking forward to another great Term 3 of sport with the next major event being the years 3-6 Athletics Day taking place at Collingwood Harriers Athletics Track on August the 4th.
