Covid Update
Winter has arrived! With this comes the increases of viruses within the community. Thank you for keeping our school open by keeping any symptomatic children at home.
If staff or students receive a positive test result at any time, they must report this through the Department of Health system (Rapid antigen tests | Coronavirus Victoria) or via the coronavirus hotline at 1800 675 398.
Students (or their parents) must also report a positive result to the school office, by written notification to the ivanhoe.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au and tom.boyle@education.vic.gov.au this is so we can record that they will be absent while in 7-day isolation, provide support and learning materials as needed, and let the rest of the school community know there has been a positive case onsite and that they should monitor for symptoms.
Thank you again for your ongoing cooperation and support during this time.
Enrolments
We are asking that any families that are within our zone or who are making a sibling claim out of zone submit their enrolments as soon as possible. This will not only help us to process out of zone enrolments with a better understanding of how many places we can offer, but also start preparing our workforce planning in a timely manner. Please refer to www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au for further information around zoning of schools.
National Reconciliation Week
This week the school highlights National Reconciliation Week which began last Friday. National Reconciliation Week, Friday 27 May to Friday 3 June 2022, celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all Australians. The dates commemorate and bookend two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey – the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. As part of Reconciliation Week, students throughout the school have been further exploring reconciliation and indigenous culture. Please find some photos of the work students have been doing in class below.
East Ivanhoe Village Upgrade
Banyule Council is reviewing parking and traffic pressures within the village and are asking for our community’s help. They want to understand a typical journey to and from Ivanhoe East Primary School. This will help them and us as a school understand traffic pressure points and find possible solutions. It will also support their work advocating the State Government for safer crossing points such as those on Lower Heidelberg Road. Your child will be coming home tomorrow with an A4 document that has a map on the back, we ask that you complete this map at your earliest convenience and place it into the prepaid reply envelope and send it back to the council before Friday 10th June. (Even though the form says 10th May)

Hi everyone
Exciting news!
IEPS Fair – Date announcement – Saturday 3 December 2022
Yes that’s right… put the date in your diary now!
A group of parents and teachers who have nominated to help pull the Fair together met last night. It is a big job, and many hands make light work!
We will be developing sub committees over the next week so please keep an eye out for a message from your class reps on this to follow later in the week and how to put your name on one of the committees to help out.
School disco – date postponed
We have decided with all the flu, colds and covid around at the moment it was prudent to postpone the school disco that was planned for 17 June. We are looking at an alternative date for Term 3 and will come back with more information.
Thanks
Helen and Nicci
