Welcome Back
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope that you have all had an enjoyable two weeks spent with family and friends. The staff at IEPS spent yesterday analysing a range of data sets and there was a lot of rich discussion and reflection. At IEPS we are on a continuous improvement cycle aiming at improving student outcomes both academically as well as a focus on student wellbeing. Today we welcome back all of our students to what we plan on being a very active and enjoyable term of learning. Walking around today I noticed smiles on faces, hands on learning occurring across each sub school as well as an energetic and vibrant vibe at recess and lunchtime.
Covid Update
Face masks
From 11:59 pm Friday 22 April, face masks, while recommended, are not required in any school setting. This means students in grades 3 to 6, staff and visitors in primary schools are no longer required to wear face masks. Any student or staff member who wishes to wear a mask may do so, including those who are medically at-risk.
Screening requirements
Students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19, and have completed their 7-day isolation period, now do not need to undertake rapid antigen test (RAT) screening for 12 weeks after their release from isolation. This was previously 8 weeks.
Household contacts
Students and staff who are household contacts of a COVID-19 case are no longer required to quarantine. They can return to school as long as they undertake rapid antigen tests (RAT) 5 times within their 7-day period and wear face masks indoors if they are aged 8 and above unless they have a valid exemption.
If any household contact returns a positive RAT result during this period, they must isolate for 7 days and not attend school.
Vaccination requirements for visitors to schools
Parents, carers and other adult visitors (not performing work) are no longer required to show evidence of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine. We still ask that parents/carers only enter school buildings if they are attending a structured event where they have been invited, or for a meeting with their child’s classroom teacher that has already been arranged.
Community use of school facilities
Schools will no longer need to request evidence of vaccination of staff or workers from external community groups who use premises outside the school’s normal operating hours.
RAT screening program extension reminder
The supply of RATs will continue for the first 4 weeks of this term. The screening recommendations remain the same and students are recommended to test at home twice a week.
Enrolments
A reminder for families that we would appreciate it if enrolments for Prep 2023 could be lodged with the office as soon as possible. It would be greatly appreciated if we could have all local families enrolling by the end of this month. Enrolment forms can be found via the school web site or if it’s easier, you can come and collect one from the office or we can send home a form with a sibling, just give the office a call to arrange it. To follow the selection priority order, we need to know how many in zone and sibling families are enrolling before we can offer places to those residing outside our area.
Cross Country
The IEPS Cross Country will be taking place tomorrow Thursday the 28th April. All Year 3-6 students will attend from 1pm to 3pm down at Chelsworth Park. The first race will begin at 1.30pm and The order of races will be as follows:
1: 10 years old and under (girls then boys) - distance around 1.2km
2: 11 year olds - total distance around 2.4km
3: 12 and older - around 2.4km
Final call: Parent Leader Formation of the Fair Committee
The committee needs a number of roles to be fulfilled to ensure that it is a success. Without these roles we may not be able to put on a fair. In previous years we been lucky enough to have parents with large event, project management, food and beverage experience donate their time.
We are looking for parents who are willing to put their hands up to fill the following roles. These roles will then be able to form sub-committees of interested parents to help them out.
- Project management - Developing and tracking the project plan for the fair to ensure all comes well together on the day. This will include liaising with the PTFA and School Council as well as Local Council on any decisions that need to be made
- Finances - ensuring that budgets are maintained, sponsorship and ticketing money collected and managing cash on the day of fair
- Sponsorship and fundraising -Liaising with the local community businesses as sponsors for rides, raffles, lucky door prizes and brand sponsorship
- Market Stalls- managing the allocation of IEPS year level stalls as well as community business stalls (at a cost)
- Marketing and communications - developing the look and feel, marketing materials as well as billboards, social media sites and communications materials for the IEPS parents and stakeholder groups
- Event Logistics - Bringing everything together on the day takes planning and risk management activities with suppliers, contractors and the local council. This is an important role.
Got these skills? Click below:
Please note - Once these roles have been filled with members of the community who have expertise in them we will then be able to form sub-committees of each role so interested parents can also help out.
We appreciate your support with this and thank you in advance if you are able to put your hand up, whether it is to lead a role or if you plan of putting your hand up once these roles have been finalised.
Regards,
Tom Boyle

Thank you for everyone who attended the Grade Prep – 2 picnic. We had about 120 people there on the afternoon and it was great that so many people got to meet someone new.
We had over 250 orders for the Hot Cross Bun drive and we hope you enjoyed them over the break. Thank you to the team on both the Wednesday and Thursday who helped sort and deliver the buns to the classrooms. We raised just under $500 for the school.
