It is important that we work together to ensure the safety of our students when they are travelling to school and during drop off and pick up time. Karen from Banyule Council is our temporary Road crossing supervisor while Rosemary is on
leave. She came to Monday’s assembly to talk to our students about the rules that they need to follow when they are using the crossing so that they are safe. Karen explained that they must stop when she blows the whistle and wait to be
asked to step out onto the crossing. She also talked about the importance of walking carefully across the road to prevent trips and falls.
Earlier this week, I received a phone call from a concerned member of the public who was nearly hit by one of our students who was riding a bike on the footpath outside IGA. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child about road
safety and what they can do to ensure their own safety and protect those around them while they are travelling to and from school whether they are walking or riding their bike.
