Friday 4th March is Clean Up Australia Day for schools around the country. Since the national event started in 1990, Australians have donated more than 28.2 million hours taking to their streets, bushland, parks and waterways on Clean Up Australia Day, removing an estimated 302,213 tonnes of rubbish from 151,909 sites across the country.
Although we want to treat every day as Clean Up Australia Day at IEPS, this Friday 4th March, the students will be showing environmental leadership by focussing our clean-up efforts on our school and the Ivanhoe East Shopping Village. Our school community will help clean up our local area and collect data about rubbish they find. Any students who have allergies will have important roles as data collectors or spotters.
We are all very enthusiastic about what we can achieve but would love parents and carers to support this important day of environmental action. To do this we ask that your child please bring a pair of reusable gardening or rubber gloves to school on Friday. This will ensure we do not need to use protective, disposable gloves and further contribute to the waste problem.
Thank you in advance for your support!
