On Friday the 22nd of July a group of Year Six students participated in an AFL umpiring clinic. An official from the AFL spent the day with the students, teaching them about all aspects of umpiring including goal, boundary and field umpiring. Student’s also learnt about the pathways they can follow to becoming an umpire at a local level and how to move up the ranks to umpiring at the highest level.
All of the students had a great time, practicing the different umpiring signals and practicing umpiring techniques such as throwing the ball in from the boundary and the centre bounce. Hopefully we will see some of these budding umpires on a field in the near future. Well done to all involved and thank you to Ben Phillips for organising the day.
